Part 2: Game Design Doc(ish)


Following my cementing of my main idea for this game jam, my next step has been writing the primary interactions and design elements for Mint's Summer Bash. I handwrote these steps in order to think about them carefully as I did so.





I included all the potential elements of the game, followed by flows for those elements and interactions. I'm aiming for top-down Zelda-style combat, with Mint swinging a sword that connects with the enemy and causes them to be deleted. I'm not sure if I'll have HP involved, it depends on how much math I want to do.

Following this, I made a complete flow-chart of the primary path the player will take within the game. Again, this is going to be very simple, so the size of the map is set to match.



With all of this decided, I began the prototyping. I'll get into the details on that in another post.
